About the Brooches
Are these really one-of-a-kind?
Yes. Each brooch is lovingly handmade using repurposed toys, beads and embroidery, which means no two pieces are exactly alike. Once a piece is sold, it's gone for good—so if something speaks to you, don't wait.
How are the brooches made?
Each brooch is designed and handmade in Canada. Depending on the design, a piece can take many hours to complete, from selecting the toy and planning the embellishments to prepping, hand-beading, embroidery, and finishing.
Are the toys new or used?
The toys used in each brooch are repurposed, which means they've had a previous life before becoming wearable art. Most show minimal wear, but some may have minor blemishes, scratches, or imperfections from their original use.
These small quirks are part of their charm and history—each mark tells a story. Every toy is carefully selected and cleaned before being transformed into your brooch, and any wear is considered part of the unique character of the piece.
If a brooch has notable imperfections, they're visible in the product photos. What you see is what you get — beautifully imperfect and one-of-a-kind.
What materials do you use?
Each brooch starts with a repurposed toy figure (think Hello Kitty, plastic food, retro characters) and is transformed with hand-embroidered and beaded embellishments. I use only premium materials: Preciosa® Czech seed beads and crystals, Swarovski® Austrian crystals and pearls, 100% wool felt, Mokuba Japanese trim, and stainless steel pin backs. Every material is chosen for quality, durability and personality.
How do I care for my brooch?
Treat it like the wearable art it is. Handle with care and wipe gently with a soft cloth. Avoid water, perfume, and prolonged direct sunlight. Store safely when not in use. The beadwork and embroidery are sturdy but not indestructible—just like you, your brooch deserves respect.
Can I request a custom piece?
Not at this time. Each piece is created as part of a curated collection. However, if you're looking for something specific, send me a message—I might have something in the works that fits what you're after.

How can I stay updated on new collections?
Subscribe to the blog or follow along on @TheDivaDaughter.ca
New pieces are released periodically, and because each one is one of a kind, they don't stay available for long.
I have another question!

Still not sure? That's okay.
